  the following is a message from another jw forum i visited:.

  i came across a scripture (genesis 15:16) which says that god's people would return "in the fourth generation".

  true, it doesn't say where in the fourth generation but as they were to be in egypt for 430 years then if they return in the fourth we're looking at generations being divided up into approx.

  As the numbers of the Dubs start to decline they will be forced to try what has been successful for them in the past , that is using scare tactics. Most Jdubs now, came in after the 1975 scare, so they will be "ripe for the picking". They will have them urgently out their preaching because the time is so short. It is funny because today i heard a Dub admitting of the past mistakes of the WTS making predictions.

  Circuit Overseers and Corruption

  as an ex presiding overseer and public affairs spokesperson who is now disfellowshipped!!!

  i am new to this site and have read with keen interest the many and varied topics that have been posted.

  during my 9 years of presiding i encountered certain corrupt c/os for example the friends would treat them like little demy gods, hanging onto their every word, they would, on their visit influence the brothers to part with cash for privledges.

  When I was a young man, the presiding overseer in the congregation and the Circuit Overseer really liked me. Because of this fact I was given the "privilege" of giving a school talk at our circuit convention. Then after they found out that I was not baptized and said that he wouldn't have given me the assignment had he known that. Anyway it was too late I had already given the talk.

  Dateline discussed openly in our congregation

  yesterday, the presiding overseer (elder h) read the letter from the christian congregation of jehovahs witnesses (us branch) regarding their policy on child abuse.

  all scriptures were also looked up and read.. elder h is a very prepared brother.

  he is a gilead graduate and served as a missionary for about 7 years in kenya before coming home because of illness.

  Sounds to me that this elder at least is allowing open and free dialog on the subject. He said that the pedophile would be turn over to the authorities and be punished but he didn't say that the convicted pedophile would be DF or not allowed to go out in door to door ministry. Well at least some elders are discussion the problem.

  Yes I have always wondered why that at the District conventions it was always the same elders that gave the talks year after year. I remember years ago this elder telling me that their was a click or inner circle of elders in each district that had all the say as far as what decisions were made and who had the privileges of getting the plum parts at the district conventions. Then they try to tell you it is a spirit directed organization!!! What spirit and who's organization???

  i'm fairly new to leaving the borg (about a year and a half).

  just wondering if anyone else has had a hard time adjusting to dating in the real world?

  i don't go by the whole 'we better not date unless we're ready to get married'.

  After leaving the Borg one has to learn to love him/herself first. Bring up their self esteem and then they will be ready to get into a relationship. Unfortunately while being a Jdub we were not taught the life skills necessary to survive in this world.

  WT Crazy Rulings on SEX and Marriage---

  a few post over the question was posted about what was the finally straw for you leaving wt and farkel highlighted all the crazy dogmas of wt and tongue and cheeked commented that he could deal with all those things except the ban on bj.. so some of the guys here at work asked me to explain it to them what ban on bj- .

  as i was explaining it the issue of remarriaged came up and i found it most interesting how once again wt makes up it's own rules for folks lives.. .

  consider this - in africa- a man can take on multiple wives in many countries since his religion allows him to do so and still have gods approval.. so when he starts to study the bible with jw he is told that since he has been taught something that is not supported by the bible the taking of multiple wives for christians ( ok solomon was the first playa on record) .

  I can attest to the fact that it was the Jdubs weird sex policy that led to my marriage break up. Why my ex reported everything back to the elders to make sure it was with in the bounds of "acceptable" WT sexual practices. After a while it was such a turn off to have sex with her when you know she is going to tell all. I think those old farts of elders got off on all the juicy bedroom stuff.

  although the actual recording of the bill bowen/wt telephone conversation may not in itself be illegal in either the state of kentucky or new york, the broadcast of it on national television across the united states may be subject to other legalites.

  one legality could be the fact that the broadcast of the recorded telephone conversation crossed many state lines, into states where secretly recording telephone conversations in any way is illegal.

  or into a state where the broadcast of a secretly recorded telephone conversation it illegal.. also, if clips of the conversation were played out of context or in such an order so as to misrepresent the facts of the actual conversation, that may also be subject to legalites.. this all varies from state to state.

  WTS has more to lose on going active public on this.

  Dateline knows and does the WTS, Dateline may have been in the wrong legally on this but does the WTS want to keep this issue in the minds of the public? They the WTS just wants this dirty little secret to go away.

  sister x, was somewhat of an enigma in the congregation, certainly a 'one-off'!

  allegedly she suffered from an 'illness' that incapacitated her at strangely convenient times!

  This crap goes on all the time. I know I was just talking to sister the other day that said she knew some that would put in pioneer hours but was on social assistance. I recall a fellow some years back that did the same thing. These are the same ones that would look down on me, a guy that was working full time to support his family, because I was not putting in 20 hours a month.
